PBS Frontline reports that Florida State Rep. Janet Adkins submitted a bill that would require the state health department to maintain an online record of the type and location of any antibiotic-resistant bacteria outbreaks in Florida, and to take the lead in investigating those reports. Senator Aaron Bean filed a version of the bill in the Florida State Senate.
Rep. Adkins notes that inspiration for this bill came in part from Frontline’s October piece, Hunting the Nightmare Bacteria. (Also see A Superbug Outbreak at NIH)
